Greenville Massive ‘Reflections EP (& Troy Pierce Remix)’ – Initials
|
Initials is the new label from two of three of the Hypercolour Records team and the London-based imprintʼs first release comes from new Danish act, Greenville Massive. Ste Roberts and Alex Jones are two thirds of the team that has steered the Hypercolour imprint to underground success but their new Initials label, run with David Elkabas, will provide a different perspective. With forthcoming tracks and remixes from artists such as DJ Linus, Petre Inspirescu, The Analogue Cops and more hint at a label which will embrace the scope of underground house and techno. Greenville Massiveʼs ʻReflectionsʼ EP is the first Initials release and takes in three original tracks and a remix from Items & Things producer and purveyor of skewed house and techno, Troy Pierce. Greenville Massiveʼs originals veer from the cossetting warmth of ʻBoxʼ through to the raw pump of ʻPlasticʼ but present a melodic vision of house that mixes timeless aesthetics with modern production mechanics. Troy Pierce turns in a remix of the dubby, melancholic ʻToneʼ that fuses live percussion to an itchy electronic framework seamlessly. Ponderous electronic funk is the result and itʼs a version that embodies Pierceʼs idiosyncratic personality and vision of bastardised house. ʻInitials is just another way of us putting out music that we love, Greenville Massive have more than caught our ear and Troy Pierce is someone weʼve admired for a long time but never pinned down before so the whole release made total sense.ʼ (Ste Roberts) Greeville Massiveʼs ʻReflectionsʼ is released on Initials 11th Feb 2012 DJ Feedback : Craig Richards (Fabric) – Tone’s got a nice way about it.
